In accordance with Article 15 of the ADOPTION LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, an adoption must be registered in a civil affairs administrative department above the county-level. The adoptive relationship shall be established as of the date of registration. In accordance with the Measures on Registering Adoption of Children by Foreigners in the People's Republic of China, adoptions of children in PRC by foreigners must be registered according to the said Measures. The adoption by a couple with a spouse of Chinese nationality must be registered according to the Measures in the civil affairs administrative department of the provincial level.
